ARS PEDIS
Toe Shortening - usually the second toe is affected
Relatively long toes can be functionally and aesthetically disturbing. The second toe is most commonly affected, often being congenitally longer than the neighboring toes (so-called Greek foot shape).
Surgical intervention can help by removing a small piece of bone from the inside of the toe and lifting the skin. Usually, the toe is splinted with a wire that is painlessly removed after four weeks. Alternatively, implants or screws can be used, which do not need to be removed later.
Surgery duration: 30 minutes
Anesthesia: Regional anesthesia (optionally with twilight sleep)
Postoperative Care: Suture removal after 14 days, wire removal after 4-5 weeks depending on the surgical method, wearing a foot bandage for 4-5 weeks
Return to Daily Activities: 0 – 30 days after surgery
